Prague, 1st of September 2009
The second year of WebExpo conference (www.webexpo.cz/en/) will be held between the 16th and 18th of October at Faculty of Economics and Management at CULS in Prague. It is Central Europe's biggest specialized event focusing on web development, web design and Internet business. The last year event was awarded the 'Prize of Czech Internet' for a brave enterprise. This year the organizers are gearing up to welcome 700 visitors and 100 speakers and partners.
The conference is a continuation of the last successful year, which received a great deal of positive feedback and publicity. This year the event will last for three days (Friday to Sunday). We prepare more talks, networking and workshops. We also work on better accessibility for international audience.
The conference is mainly focusing on lectures for web developers, designers and managers. Among experts giving speeches for developers we could names Molly E. Holzschlag (Opera Software), Jaroslav Bengl (Google), Jan Odvárko (Mozilla) and Jiří Kosek (XML guru).
The special topic of this year's conference is the User Experience. So far, this topic hasn't had sufficient attention in the Czech Republic. Considering its principles, the return of investments into (not only) web projects can be increased. In cooperation with Prague's branch of SIGCHI organization, Christian Heilmann from Yahoo! Developer Networks will come to speak.
One line of the schedule is dedicated to businessmen, marketers and managers. Friday's programme includes topics such as "Marketing in social sites" (Michal Berg) or "How to turn a small successful company into a big successful company" (Zbyněk Frolík). Saturday talks include, for example, the method "Getting Things Done" (Petra Mára). Then Peldi Guilizzoni's experience with starting the world successful application "Balsamiq" (application for web prototyping) or the announcement of Startup Show 2009 competition results of Czech and Slovak startups.
Co-organizer and one of the main partners is Faculty of Economics and Management at CULS in Prague (www.pef.czu.cz/en/), which hosts conference in the university campus.
This year's new main partner is Sun Microsystems (www.sun.com). At the conference they will introduce the new JavaFX technology, which enables programming of web, desktop and mobile applications for unified web browsers' plugin in different operating systems. Other talks are concerned with Java language, using of NetBeans IDE, or the future of "The Semantic web."
"Sun Microsystems will be introducing JavaFX at this years WebExpo conference. The technology for complex client application creation; making it possible to keep the existing investment in Java technologies. JavaFX is a full-featured language based on Java technology, suitable for designing rich user interfaces," says Martin Balín, Director, Tools Quality and Services Engineering from Sun Microsystems.
Microsoft (www.msdn.com) is again one of the main partners. Their talks will introduce Silverlight 3 technology, which competes at similar market segment such as Flash and the already mentioned JavaFX. A talk on "Automated testing of web applications" is prepared for developers independent of their programming language. Jiří Karpeta, DPE Lead from Microsoft comments:
"Testing applications are an integral, yet often forgotten, part of the applications' development. Many companies see testing as a development delaying, hence cotly process. With Visual Studio Team System the developers get possesion of a tool that enables them to computerize applications testing, thanks to which the development becomes distinctively more efficient and customers receive higher quality products."
Other partners of WebExpo are companies such as Vodafone (which will introduce a new social network connected to mobile services - Vodafone Park), Adobe (new features in Adobe Flex 4), Kentico Software (CMS for .NET), Opera Software (web standards), Actum (Sharepoint and online marketing), BARTON STUDIO (Symfony framework for PHP programmers), South Moravian innovation centre (a talk for startups) and Buzzboot.
The main media partner of the event is the web programmers' magazine Zdroják.cz (www.zdrojak.cz) owned by Internet Info. Other media partners are Computerworld magazine (IDG), Czech Radio Leonardo and the Inovace.cz portal. Internet magazine Lupa.cz is the media partner of the Startup Show 2009 competition.
